What the Hell Happened to My Feet?

Copyright Insanity Infusion

The little one got a new 'Olivia' pig (with matching book) and frog slippers in the mail today.

While she took to Olivia right away, she's a little concerned that she's turning into an amphibian.

Ouchers and Bubble Gum

This morning started out well. Got decent sleep last night. The munchkin was in a good mood. Snacking in her playpen while I diligently cleaned the kitchen and washed dishes.

Dishwashers should be a mandated household appliance.

I was washing a bowl and it slipped right out of my hands. I was able to catch it though!!...the superwoman that I am...

However, I happened to catch it just as it hit the sink and broke.

I thought I lucked out though. You know, those first few moments after you've really hurt yourself when you're numb to it all?

Thinking, "Oh rock on! Damn, I lucked out...STOKED! No cuts!! WHEW!"

Then reality settles in and the blood starts flowing...

Ew.

So I have four nice cuts on my dominant hand. Three which just hurt and aren't too horrific, but then the last one which is on my middle finger knuckle and it's a doozy.

A nice hunk of fleshy finger meat flapping around. Beautiful.

Hurts like a BLEEP!

Of course the munchkin saw her daddy up earlier than usual and didn't really give a rat's hiney about my injuries..."Ooo Daddy's awake!! Hold me nowwwwwwwwwwwww Daddy!"

We tossed a cookie at her in hopes of satiation.

It worked for a bit. Long enough for me to get bandaged up. I can't bend my middle finger and the other cuts hurt but aren't throbbing the same as my middle finger.

And I can't forget to buy Bubble Gum.

I'm packing for a trip to California. We fly out Thursday. Fly back Saturday.

Suitcases. Come out! Come out! Wherever you are!

Mu Goo My Margarita!

I spent most of the day out walking around today....it was sooo nice!! A bit chilly to start, but then it warmed up nicely. And I heard it's supposed to be in the 80s tomorrow...woo hoo!

We decided to walk a few blocks away to this dive of a Chinese place.

"You want to eat there?"

"Hmm. Sure."

"What if it's really bad?"

"Well, yeah, it could be...but maybe we'll get some tea if we eat there?"

So we walked there and as we reached the door, we notice that the restaurant is a small 9x9 foot room with a couple of card tables and a few metal chairs.

Definately not a place to 'dine-in' at!

"Ok...so you want to get it to gooo?" I say with a chuckle...It was quite obvious that there would be no tea to be had there.

The place was empty except the three of us and the cooks in the back.

We place our order, 'Mongolian Beef', 'Kung Pao Chicken', and 'Pork Fried Rice'...three standards that could easily be compared amongst other restaurants.

While we were waiting (approximately 25-30 minutes) for the food to be prepared, six other people came in to pick up orders that they had called ahead for. SIX!

To me that was a good sign that this nothing-burger place might be better than I had originally anticipated...card tables and no tea set aside.

And while we waited, I found myself acting ridiculous....

"Excuse me...Have you eaten here before??"

I asked that of every single person that came through the restaurant's doors.

"Was the food good? Is it good? Do you like it? What do you recommend?"

Like anyone coming back for more is going to say...'Oh the food sucks and I am just a glutton for punishment which is why I am coming back...'

The woman gave us an extra bag of fortune cookies!! MMM!!

My fortune:
~*~Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.~*~

My husband paid the bill and gave the woman a tip. He had noticed that no one else that had come in bothered tipping! The woman looked very confused (and sooo busy and tired) and started calculating in her head the extra amount and then held out the extra money repeating what the total had come to and saying he had over paid.

He looked at her and said, "Yeah, I know...that's a tip."

The woman just melted. It was so sweet. She, for a brief moment, took in a breath of air from her busy schedule and sighed and said, "Thank you so much."

We got the food home, tore open the containers and while I sorted the baby, my husband began tasting the food.

"Sooo??!?!? How is it???" as I took coats off and reclipped messy munchkin hair and got out baby food, etc.

No answer.

"C'mon!! Can't you just telll me!?! I'm STARVING! I gotta know!"

My husband starts his reply.."It's...fricken..."

And he scruntches up his face and makes a big thumbs down gesture...

"FRICKEN AWESOME!!!!"

So we all sat down and snarfed! I'm so happy to have found good Chinese food by my house!! YUM!

Then my husband scrambled out the door for his 'Boys Night Out' and I sat down to another small helping of the delish fried rice and watched some mental mush tv while I finished my margarita.

Ahhh bliss!

I'm a Big Meanie

I went for a walk this afternoon and just as I was about to cross the street to head back toward my house a man stops me.

"Excuse me. Can you help me?"

"What can I help you with?"

"Can you ~mummble mummble~ phone number?"

(I didn't really know what he wanted but I did my best to come up with a possible solution."

"There's got to be a phone book around here close by where you can get the phone number you need."

And I wave my hand pointing up the street toward some businesses.

"Oh, I got the number already. I want to call my best friend and have him come over."

"Oh. Sorry. I won't let you use my cellphone to do that, nor will I call for you. Try a pay phone up the street."

And I turn to walk away, but of course, right at that moment GOBS of traffic just had to be driving by making me wait for a good few minutes...

Warm weather brings out all the ~interesting~ types.

So, I'm a meanie...I said no...

Sweet 21

Copyright Insanity Infusion

I was cleaning the attic some more, and I came across this picture of my Mom. It's one of my favorites of her...

She was just 21.

Blasted Blinds and Tackling Tubs

I've been busy lately to say the least. Not only with my attic spring cleaning and day and evening walks, but with this small human being glued to my side that I call daughter.

She's entirely hazardous now that she's walking. And there is nothing passive about her... She gravitates toward each and every danger that she possibly could.

This morning, as I was frantically trying to throw myself together in front of the bathroom mirror so we could get out and enjoy some sunshine, my little one was playing happily by my feet. She likes emptying out the bathroom cabinets and especially grabbing the bandaid box and tossing bandaids all over the tile floor.

She weighs herself on the scale, tries scaling the toilet, and like a kitten, undoes the toilet paper roll leaving strips of toilet paper all over... she's so cute when she's busy like this. And all that's fine with me. Because while she's busy in this manner, she's safe.

But when she stands at the side of the tub, tossing in all the shampoo bottles and conditioner bottles and bars of soap and drain stoppers and and and and.... she starts making me a little nervous.

You see, it's fine while she's throwing the stuff into the tub, but then when she runs out of things to throw in...well, she wants to start all over again. The only way for her to start all over is to gather all the items in the tub and 1, 2, 3...she's ready to go again.

Normally, she just stands there...dancing along the edge of the tub, making strange baby noises to let me know she's run out of things to throw in. And this is when I stop what I'm doing, help her out, and then we're both on our merry way.

Maybe it's her new found ~FREEDOM~ of walking...her new sense of ~INDEPENDENCE~... her "I am WOMAN, hear me ROAR"... but this morning, instantly she decided to throw herself head first into the empty tub. There was no way I could have acted fast enough to catch her. She's got a lovely bruise on her forhead.

Lord give me strength to make it through this transformation from crawler to stable walker. And please grant my daughter the understanding not to throw herself into hard objects on an instant's notice where she might really hurt herself. And please keep the margarita bottle in the fridge at a minimum 3/4 level full so that I don't turn into a neurotic mess while I guide my daughter through this challenging time.

And the blinds in our computer room are officially broken. After not getting but five minutes of sleep last night, and waking up early to a fussy munchkin and a husband who swears that the baby had been crying for THREE HOURS when in reality it had been five minutes, because I was awake for the entire episode, and seeing the blinds laying on the floor and struggling with them trying to hang them back up only to have them fall back down right.on.top.of.me when I was still cranky and tired...well, they are now laying in a big, messy heap on the back porch. And there they shall stay until I crumple up their sorry blindy butt and stuff them into the garbage can.

Not Only

Not only is my little one walking now, but she's able to walk and talk on her cell phone at the same time.

It's pretty darn comical.

Nice Weather

It's got to be the nice weather outside that has me so itchy to clean and throw stuff out.

I spent six hours out and about walking yesterday and visiting with people. It felt GREAT. I forgot to lather the little one up with sunscreen though, and I can't find her bottle of spf 60 so I need to remember to get some more tomorrow...

I didn't get out for a walk today. Shame on me. But I found myself going a bit bonkers with cleaning and sorting. It's a never ending job really, but I did enough where it's noticeable and that feels awesome.

We got a new vacuum cleaner. A Dyson! And honestly, the first time I heard all the hype about a Dyson vacuum cleaner, I laughed. I thought it was so cartoony and comical...but now that I have one and have actually used it in my house...AMAZING! Works great and is lightweight and really built with the convenience of the user in mind.

I've also been working up in my attic. Look down your shirt and spell attic out loud.... (I swear, I'm still such a child at heart.) So far I have three boxes of stuff to go to Goodwill/Salvation Army and about six garbage bags full of stuff to be tossed! I'm definately in a groove. Funny thing is, in the house, I have a rinky dink boombox that only plays the radio because the CD player part is broken. I rock out while I wash dishes and cook dinner, etc. But up in the attic, I decided why not finally get around to hooking up the stereo...so that's what I did. Right up there in the attic. Now I've got nice tunes to listen to while I throw stuff out and give stuff away...I find it highly motivating and it keeps me from getting over sentimental with stuff.

Now, sushi for dinner, or steak salad with vinaigrette and a sliced baguette...decisions decisions!

How To Be Really Alive

When I first started college, I was very into ~finding myself~. I took a lot of walks, sketched a lot of pictures, did a lot of people watching...

One of the books I came across that I found to be so interesting was 'A Creative Companion' by SARK.

Many stories from the book I found inspiring, but the following is something that has stuck with me through the years:

How To Be Really Alive

Live Juicy.Stamp out conformity.
Stay in bed all day.Dream of gypsy
Wagons.Find snails making love.
Develop an astounding appetite for books.
Drink sunsets.Draw out your feelings.
Amaze yourself.Be ridiculous.Stop
Worrying.Now.If not now, then when?
Make yes your favorite word.Marry
Yourself.Dry your clothes in the sun.
Eat mangoes naked.Keep toys in the
Bathtub.Spin yourself dizzy.Hang
Upside down.Follow a child.Celebrate
An old person.Send a love letter to yourself.
Be advanced.Try endearing.Invent
New ways to love.Transform negatives.
Delight someone.Wear pajamas to a
Drive in movie.Allow yourself to feel
Rich without money.Be who you truly
Are and the money will follow.Believe
In everything.You are always on
Your way to a miracle.

~The Miracle is You~
