I.Just.Can't.Stop

I honestly can't stop watching The Food Network.

It's making me want to cook all the time. I want to create food masterpieces.

The sink is full of dirty dishes from my makings of lunch.

Mashed potatoes made from scratch. Low fat pork sausage sauteed in garlic and sliced sweet onions. Corn on the cob. Smooth brown gravy.

While not a fancy lunch, it was casual and home cooked and good.

I'll make a light dinner...possibly just salad and a freshly baked baguette.

When my husband and I first got married, I used to cook enough food to feed an army at every meal. I've gotten ~much~ better now and cook with very little food left over any more. It was hard for me to learn to do that. If I have to cook for more people than just my husband and myself, I still have a lot of problems figuring out just how much to make. I'm always concerned there won't be enough.

I still have nightmares about the Memorial Day party that Manababies had last year and the chopped salad that I brought. I didn't bother assembling the salad until I arrived at the party. I figured doubling the recipe would be a good idea. It was an embarrassing amount of salad.

But The Food Network has me itching endlessly to create, create, create!

I don't have a dishwasher, other than my own two hands though, so that is one major downside to my cooking.

Food is fabulous.

I have an obsession with watching the Discovery Health Channel where they do the operations. Hmm... wonder what that says about me. But I watch it WHILE I'm eating an ENORMOUS amount of food.

I think I have issues.

I know what you mean. When we first got satellite, after years of having just local channels, I went nuts with the Food Channel. The late afternoon lineup always got me motivated to make dinner. Of course, the novelty wore off pretty quick because I don't think any amount of Sara's Secrets or The Barefoot Contessa can get me out of this cooking rut I'm in. Blah, cooking! ;)

I do recall that salad being pretty darned good though!

I love food network. That is all that I watch on Saturdays. Pat hates it. But it really makes me want to cook more. And I saw a few of the pizza shows last night and now that it what I am craving. Food is such a great indulgence and a great activity to participate in. I actually need to visit the website for dinner ideas for tonight.

Yeah, the Food Network logo is burned in to our TV it's on so much. Anytime you hit the "last channel" button on the remote that's where it goes. I really can't complain (though I do hear complaints when Speedvision is on for more than five minutes) because we always have good food. I swear, you guys would be the best of friends and me and your husband would be big like Jaba the Hut.
